Christmas Card Throwdown #03 Reminder

cct03I’m back today to remind you that we still have a great theme challenge going on over at Christmas Card Throwdown.

This is such a fun theme.  There is so many possibilities when it comes to drink at Christmas Time.

Maybe hot cocoa makes you think of Christmas.  Maybe it is a special holiday cocktail.  For me, it is eggnog, or to be more precise, spiked eggnog.  It seems like the only days I ever enjoy this drink are the days leading up to Christmas.  And ek-gorman-cct03-2-1come boxing day this lovely drink always seems to be gone.  I honestly don’t think there has ever been a time in my life that I drink this treat except in December.  I know it comes out around Thanksgiving, but I just don’t reach for it.

I decided to make a christmas tree out of eggnog glasses today.  I pulled ek-gorman-cct03-2-3out this fun glass shape from Paper Smooches and blocked out a triangle using some post it tape.  Then I went to town stamping in the image of the glass.  The real trick to this technique is making sure you really pay attention of how you stamp around the edges.  You really want to make sure you overlap on the seams so that way it looks like the glass is disappearing off the page.  I added one more glass to the base of the tree image to make it look like a bit of a tree stand.  I pulled out a tiny little holly stamp from another Paper Smooches.  I stamped on the holly at the rim of each glass trying to make it look a little bit more festive.  I pulled out my copics and went to town coloring it.  I think this came out pretty fun.  I trimmed it down and added a bit of festive card stock behind to make things a little more christmasy.

If you haven’t linked in your drinks themed design yet, what are you waiting for?  We really can’t wait to see what you do to celebrate our drink theme.

  1. So glad you explained your technique. What a fun stamp! When I first looked, I thought you’d used a patterned paper. And placing the one glass upside down to form the trunk base – genius! Creative Blessings! Kelly
