There is nothing I love more than taking a sweet image and adding a bit of snark to it. There just seems something so perfect between. And today, the newly released Sparkles Blends mix Just Keep Swimming from Doodles Paper Playground goes perfectly with this juxtaposition.

I started by stamping this fun mermaid image from The Greeting Farm onto some watercolor paper, as well as the stamp set from Funny Bones. I colored in the image with my Fabre Castel watercolor pencils.

Using Blue Print Sketch, Broken China and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide I blended ink around the edges. I also hand drew in a ‘body of water’ around the mermaid to become the shaker image.

I added a water spray and droplets onto the oxide to give the card an underwater feel.

Using a craft knife I cut out the ‘body of water’.

Onto an A2 card frame, I blended more Salvaged Patina to fill in the hole. I created the shaker element and filled it with the Just Keep Swimming Sparkle Blend.

Using my Sparkle Stick, I added bits and bobbles from the mix to the front of the card.

I just love how this blend looks ‘floating’ in the hand cut water.
