Back to Card Making Basics

EK Gorman, White Rose Crafts, Tim Holtz d

When I made shift from a Mixed Media Artist and Art Journal to card maker, the Tim Holtz range of supplies were my first card making products.  His distress inks and grungy stamps were got me addicted to the world of card making.

EK Gorman, White Rose Crafts, Tim Holtz aSince then, I have pushed out to all the different products and toys within the card making world, but I often find myself still coming back to the Tim Holtz line.

Today I am sharing some of my crafting roots with a wide range of products White Rose Crafts carries from the Tim Holtz line.

Card One

IMG_7022To start my first card, I pulled out the Distress Ink Mini Kit 4 and blended them onto some watercolor paper using my blending tool.

IMG_7023To grunge up the edges a little bit more, I added some Vintage Photo Distress Oxides (which blends so well with the distress inks).

IMG_7024I stamped out some images from the Tim Holtz Flights of Fancy stamp set.  I just love how the Evergreen Bough, Scattered StrawShaded Lilac, and Spun Sugar stamped over the same blended colors.

IMG_7025I then splattered the card with some Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Spray.

IMG_7026I stamped the sentiment from the stamp pack using VersaFine Black Onyx.

IMG_7027I finished the project off with a few sprays of clean water, to activate the distress ink.

EK Gorman, White Rose Crafts, Tim Holtz eI just love the summer feel of this card and how the inks blended together.

Card Two

IMG_7028I blended Distress Inks from the Mini Kit 2 for this card.

IMG_7029For this card, I used Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide to create not a grunge, but a shadow effect around the edges of this card.

IMG_7030Using the Fired Brick, Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean, and Seedless Preserves inks, I stamped the images from the Butterfly Melange stamp set.

IMG_7031I stamped the sentiment from the Butterfly Melange stamp set in VersaFine ink as well for this card.

IMG_7032I splattered this card with a little Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Spray.

IMG_7033I also sprayed this card with a little clean water to activate the Distress inks.
