It is December so that mean that there is a new moodboard up over on the Craftin Desert Diva’s monthly moodboard challenge on their Facebook Gallery.
I am in serious love with the rich bold colors of this moodboard, and of course all that beautiful snow!
I wanted (for at least this card) to make a Christmas card, so I pulled out CDD’s Holiday Hugs stamp set.
I then decided that I wanted to make a card that looked like it was peeking inside a window of a house, so I pulled out CDD’s Doodle Frames stamp set. I started the the card by stamping the bow on the wreath and masking it. Then I stamped the wreath in some green copic friendly ink. Next I pulled out a medium sized doodle frame and stamped it in some Memento Ink. I then created a mask for the frame so I could build the house.
I often get asked how I make my stones or bricks look so realistic, and when I explain it, I am often told that that process is just too hard (please note, it really isn’t). So today, I thought I would fake my brick by repeatedly stamping the bricks from the Doodle Frame stamp set and stamp it in some dark red memento ink. I then used some copic markers to fill in between the bricks and shadowed a corner of each brick.
Using the negative of the mask for the doodle frame, I then stamped the troll so she could be seen from outside the house. Finally I went crazy with my copics to create the scene. Using my white Gelly roll pen, I created snow on top of the window, along the bricks and on the wreath. I also added snow flakes through out the scene. Finally I added a sentiment from the troll set with some black Versa Fine Ink.
I hope you decide to play along with the fun moodboard this month. There is some really fun prizes to win. Don’t forget to tag your post with the hashtag #CDDMONTHLY so the design team can find it!
