There is a new moodboard up over on Craftin Desert Divas Facebook Gallery. Each month CDD gives you a moodboard and your create a design influanced by the gorgeous pictures! There are always prizes at the end of the month for participants (picked randomly).
This month the toasty fire and frost riddled leaves inspired me to pull out my Snow Days stamp set and create an outdoor fire pit in the middle of a winter night. I stamped out the four racoons, the snowman, the stocking cap, fire pit, sleigh, and sentiment from the Snow Days pack. Then using CDD’s Build A Scene 2 I added the pond and the rocks (masking where I needed too).
I then pulled out my copics and went to town coloring in the scene. The trees in the background were hand drawn in and the moon was created using colorless blender to push away the dark color.
I used my white gel pen to add stars to the night sky, snow to the background tress and highlights to the rocks. All of the rocks got some Liquid Applique Marker under them for some dimensional snow effect. Finally, I added Glossy Accents over the entire pond trying to make it look like a frozen lake.
I know I shouldn’t say things like this…but I am really proud of this card. I usually like my cards, especially the colored scenes, but this one I feel went about and beyond the normal. I think that I almost captured the light effect off the fireplace and the warmth the flames were giving. And I love how the background came out.
