Hey Friends…I am up on the Craftin Desert Divas Blog today showing my take on Sentiment backgrounds, but with a small twist!
Instead of stamping my sentiments in the background, I am going to press them into the card stock with a sentiment die.
I pulled out my die cutting machine and opened the cutting plate to the second folder. Then using a silicone rubber impression pad (you can also use several layers of felt) I placed the ‘thanks’ sentiment from CDD’s Greeting Word Dies, and secured it to some cardstock with a bit of Washi Tape. I ran it through my machine, leaving just an impression of the die.
I continued running the die through the machine, moving it each time to a new place on the cardstock so all the ‘Thanks’ lined up.
When finished, you have a whole card face filled with impressed ‘Thanks’!
I ran the whole card face back through my die cutting machine one more time, but this time in the first folder without the silicone mat, and CDD’s largest Crazy Stitched Frame Dies secured in place.
Using some Distress Ink in wild honey, I blended ink into the center of the cardstock.
Next, I decided to take a more traditional approach to a sentiment background. I die cut out a panel using the smallest Crazy Stitched Frame Dies, and stamped the ‘note of thanks’ sentiment from CDD’s Harvest Happiness stamp set. My MISTI made this task much easier, since I just had to move the paper up one grid box to get a new line.
I will tell you that when I do this again, I will stamp the sentiment out over and over again first, and then die cut the card stock. I think it would be a little easier that way.
As you can see I didn’t aline the card correctly and wasn’t able to get all the left stamped without bending the card stock. That however, was easily fixed just by repositioning my sentiment on the MISTI and stamping the sentiment again.
This left my with a neatly stamped panel covered in an organized sentiment background.
I adhered the panel to the card face with some 3D adhesive squares. Finally, I stamped out one of the scarecrows from the Harvest Happiness stamp set and colored her up with my copics and added her to the panel. A few sequins from CDD’s Pumpkin Spice Sequin Mix adhered with Glossy Accents finished the card.
And there you get a fun twist on sentiment background technique. I think this is the perfect thank you card for anyone hosting a fall get together!
