STENCILS ARE HERE!!! STENCILS ARE HERE!!!!
Yes you are reading that right!!! Craftin Desert Divas have started a line of stencils…and I am so excited. Anyone who knows me that I am obsessed with stencils. And for a debut, this one is pretty amazing.
But I am getting ahead of myself. It is Day 3 of Craftin Desert Divas September Release Event and I am back today to share a sneak peak of one of the new stamp sets, plus the brand new STENCIL!
I am loving this scene that CDD has created with their debut stencil with this Halloween Scene Stencil. It is perfect for backgrounds for your Halloween cards. I made two (plus a bonus) projects with this stencil…one a more tradition card, and the other a canvas that would be perfect for the house during October.
I this card simply by laying the stencil down onto some black card stock. Then using my oxides I sponged some ink into the open areas. I used Broken China, Peacock Feather, Faded Jeans, and Wilted Violet Distress Oxides for the Sky, Fossilized Amber for the windows, and Cracked Pistachio for the path leading up to the house. And I am loving the detail that you can achieve with this stencil. Look how crisp those lines are!!! The sentiment is from the new stamp set Frightfully Sweet, which I will be sharing a peak of a little further down this post!
My second project is created on a 6x6x2″ canvas. I pulled out my Distress Paints to create this project. I painted the whole canvas with black gesso (but you could use any dark paint). Then I sponged on some Picket Fence Distress Paint into the open spaces of the stencils.
The next part was the fun part. Using Seedless Preserves, Carved Pumpkin, Black Soot, and Twisted Citron, I splattered tons of Distress Paint onto the canvas.
Using those same colors, I sponged some paint on the sides of the canvas. Finally, using some white pigment ink, I stamped a halloween sentiment from the new Frightfully Sweet stamp set around the edges of the canvas.
I have one last picture of me literally messing around with the stencil. This project ended up on the cutting room floor, but it shows how much you can push this stencil, how many different products you can throw at it, and still how great the edges of the stencil turn out. There is gel medium, glass glitter, mica powder, eight different spray inks, and some hand painted sections here, and yet, the stencil still left a beautiful image behind!!!
I also have a sneak peak of the new Frightfully Sweet stamp set. This set is filled with all kinds of ‘scary’ characters just waiting to greet you this Halloween. For this card, I stamped out the Friendly Vampire, the kitty, the bat, the pumpkin, and all the treats, plus the sentiment. Then I hand drew in the coffin and the floor.
I colored the whole card in with my copic markers. I die cut the scene using CDD’s Fancy Frames. Then using the new Harvest Border Die, I added the pumpkin border around the whole image. Finally, I added some metallic orange card stock behind things to just add a little bit more spooky halloween feel!
That’s it for today, as if it wasn’t already enough! Don’t forget to sneak back in for more projects all week long!
Great cards. Such a quirky stencil, that looks so fun to play with
