I am back today with another card from my 2017 Halloween Series. Today, I really messed around with some products to see if I could push a medium in a different direction then I would normally use it.
My Halloween stamp today is from Art Impressions‘ halloween series, and pulled a stamp and sentiment from the Meow-ollween stamp set.
I pulled out my Tombows today, along with the blender pen, and laid down some N15 onto the cat. Here’s the thing however…I stamped the image out onto some Neehnah cardstock, not watercolor paper. I was really curious how much you could push your Tombows on cardstock. Obviously, the black is pretty dark, and didn’t blend great, and yet there is something still pretty fun about the kitty. I was able to work the bat’s warm grey (N45) color a little better. However, the lesson has been learned… Tombows = watercolor paper. But you never learn anything new if you don’t try.
After learning that the markers would not be a great idea to create a background, I pulled out my Oxides and some stencils. I added the clouds from a Hero Arts stencil and Antique Linen, Faded Jeans, and Black Soot Oxides. Then I added the stone work from a Dina Wakley stencil, Antique Linen, Spiced Marmalade, and Vintage Photo.
I hope you all are enjoying this Halloween series…cause frankly I am having a ball. Do you experiment with your mediums, or do you always play with the things you know will work? Let me know in the comments below.
Is the stamp the cat and the bat, or are they two separate stamps you’ve used together?

I wish I was creative as that…but no, the bat and cat are on the stamp together. However it would be easy to stamp just one or the other.
