Head Start of Valentine’s Day

I here today to share my first Valentine’s day card of the season using Craftin Desert Divas products.  I really hate the idea of celebrating love one day a year (I think that it should be celebrated everyday of the year not because a date says you have to, but because you need to because the love you have for someone is too much to keep to yourself).  Alas, my husband and children still like getting little Valentine’s, so I make them.

Today I have a card that I whipped up for my hubby (shhh…don’t tell him).  We already know that we won’t be able to knock out a great V-day date due to work commitments, so I went ahead and made him a little card with that in mind.ek-gorman-cdd1-26-3

Now I have to admit I may have cheated a little, but then again, when it comes to stamping, I feel I cheat or break the rules all the time.  Today I took two different digital stamps and combined them to make one image.

To be fair to myself, the first one didn’t have a passenger, and frankly you can’t have a hot air balloon without a passenger.  I printed out Heart Hot Air Balloon digi and colored it in with my copic markers.  I fussy cut not only the boarder of the hot air balloon, but also trimmed out the center white space.

Then I printed out Coffee Cup Mouse (which I want to tell you was not only my very first ek-gorman-cdd1-26-2stamp from CDD when I started crafting cards, but it was my very first digital stamp period.  I have very fond feelings towards the stamp.)  I colored only in the mouse, knowing that I was going to cut the cup away.  I just love how the little mouse’s hands reach over the cup and really felt he would look perfect in the basket (see I told you I cheated).

Next, I pulled out some card stock and Distress Inks.  I blended in some ombre effect with Tattered Rose, Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry using a distress tool.  I splashed lots of water onto the card and heat set the whole image.

I grabbed some pink fun foam next and die cut both the inked paper and the fun foam with my largest Fancy Frame Die.  I adhered with my favorite adhesive, 1/4 inch Scor Tape the fun foam around the edges of an A2 card.  Then I set in the inked card stock into the card.  I adhered the balloon down, and then very carefully adhered the mouse into the basket of the balloon.  I made a point to wrap the little mouse’s tail around the strings connecting the basket to the balloon.

Finally, I pulled out my Wishful Throughts sentiment stamp set and stamped out the sentiment that I will mean most on Valentine’s Day.  Then again, even when my hubby is at work during the day, I wish that he was homes.

That’s all for today.  I hope you enjoyed the bit of V-day love I am tossing out.  More so I hope your loved ones are within reach.
