Okay we are up to the fourth day of my holiday hopping around the internet to discover all the cool challenges happening everywhere.
Today I have day 4 of Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Touch. Day Four’s theme was all about felt. Now, I am not a felt user and found this tag particularly difficult.
I did however die cut some felt with a My Favorite Things die set and hand stitched some red floss onto the hat and gloves. I grabbed a small manilla tag and blended some Distress ink onto the tag. I used faded blue jeans on the edges and broken china in the middle. I then glued down the felt with some glossy accents. TIP…use a different glue. That one took forever to set the felt.
I decided to play with the outdoor woods feel pictures. I pulled out a new stamp set from CDD, Snow Day, and stamped out the cute raccoon images onto some card stock. I masked both the raccoon on the sled and the fire to get the image to lay out the way I wanted it to.
I then colored in the card using my copics. All of the raccoons and the shadows are colored in with W01, W03, and W06, while the snowflakes and the back sky are colored in with BG10, B000, and B00. I used a collection of E50s to color in the log cabin and the melted snow around the camp fine. Finally I used E04, E07, and E09 to color in the roof. After I finished coloring I realized I had messed up the shadows around the fire, but alas, live and learn, right?
I also got a chance to play along with Coffee Loving Cardmarkers hop. I decided to use Craftin Desert Divas digi stamp Java Fox, which you can get for free during this blog hop. More detail are on the CDD blog, here.
I sized the digi pretty large because I wanted Java Fox to be the star of the card. I printed him out and heat set my printer ink with a heat gun. I then started the process of coloring him in with my copics. I colored in the reds with R35, R46 and R59 and the greens in his hat in sweater with G24, G94, and G99. The fox’s fur in colored in with E23, E25, E29, and E79 while his face and tip of his tale is colored in with E13, E08, and E09. I decided after I colored all of his face in, that I wanted the white of his eyes to show like a real fox, so I used my colorless blender around the eyes and the top of the tail. I just refilled the blender, so it was a little drippy, which for once worked well. I knew I wanted a winter scene behind the fox, so I hand drew in the pine trees. I used G24, G09, and G99 to get the pine needles on and then using my favorite while gel pen added the snow to the branches. I colored the back ground sky in with BG10, B000, B00, and B60. I then added a bazillion (okay, not quite that many) hand dotted snow pieces all over the card. I finally added a sentiment from Craftin Desert Diva stamp pack Snow Day. I love how the snow makes that coffee actual look so warm.
That’s it for today’s hope. Check in through out the week for the rest of it.
