Cupcake Inspirations #387

cic387It’s Sunday, which means it is time for a new challenge over at Cupcake Inspirations.  This week we are hosting a theme challenge, and it seems we are in the holiday spirit.  This week we are looking for designs that are featuring ‘snow globes’.

And check out those cupcakes this week…if anyone knows if that topper is edible, let me know….it just looks to good to be true.digitaldelightsbyloubylou

This week we are sponsored by Digital Delights.  They are graciously offering a $5 voucher to one random 5-store-gift-certparticipant this week.

Digital Delights also gave the design team a couple of of digital stamps to play with this week, and they were really fun to color.  I printed out two digis, one a snow globe, and the other an image I made small enough to fit in the globe.  I decided to try something different this week.  I decided to color in the images in black in white, almost as if they had been filtered into gray scale.

I wish I could say it was easier, but there is a certain balance that you have to have to really get this to work.  I made the mistake of coloring in my girl in the cool gray copic family and the snow globe in a warm gray copic family thinking it would give something to the card…I was wrong.  It looked like two objects that did not belong together.  So I ended up adding a bunch of cool gray tones to the globe and that helped things out.

I grabbed my copic R29 marker and colored in the negative space of my card to really help the black and white pop.  I added the card to an A2 frame made out of sparkly grey and white printed card stock, and let bits of the paper show on the edges.

I decided to leave the card just there.  I forwent the sentiment because I struggled finding one that really worked.  I think she ended up really cute, trapped in her globe.  I did have two red boo, boos on the card, so don’t look too close.  Stupid freshly filled copic.

Take a few minutes and run by the Design Sweeties.  They all used these digis in really fun ways.

That’s it for today.  I can’t wait to see your design featuring our theme this week.
