So I finally get to announce a pretty cool honor I have gotten. I get to be the Guest Muse Designer over at Muse Card Club. Kind of cool right?
Anyway, for those of you who don’t know Muse, they don’t have a weekly theme or sketch, or even color scheme. No, they run their challenge group a little bit differently. They give you a designed card to inspire you. Something to be you muse, as the saying goes.
So I got to design a card from the blank space up. Hopefully I came up with something that will get people’s creative juices flowing.
For those of you who don’t know me, I am quite fond of snarky cards. I think we frankly need more laughter in this world, so I play all the time with really funny sentiments, that often ring rather true to real life. I am also more of a colorist when it comes to card crafting than any other style, so I always look for stamps that need fun coloring.
Believe it or not but I kept this one pretty simple. I stamped out the passed out chicken from an Art Impressions Stamp and added the Riley and Company Funny Bones sentiment. I give just a hint of color with my copics to the chicken, focusing on the shadow more than anything. The single layered card seemed a little simple, so i added the leafs from a Stampendous stamp set and added just a hint more color to the leaves.
Now, the question is, what inspires you from the card. Is it the quirky character? The snarky comment. The play on seriousness and playfulness? Or is it just the need for sleep during these stressful holiday times that inspires you to create?
Hopefully everyone will have a bit of fun with this week’s Muse. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Congrats on your Muse gig! Very exciting. I LOVE this card – and I so agree that the world needs much more laughter in it. Love the bird, love the sentiment. Love how you set it in the stems and leaves. I’m going to have to play.

Congrats on your Muse gig, love your card. The leaves around your image are such an inspiration and as for that image and sentiment well it covers my life perfectly. Love it.
