It’s Sunday which means it is time for a new Cupcake Inspirations Challenge. This week we are hosting a theme challenge, looking for cards that show off their “Thanks”. I guess that is only fitting since later this week here in the states we are going to be celebrating Thanksgiving.
This week we are sponsored by Lawn Fawn, who generously offering a prize of a 6×6 stamp set of the winner’s choice to one random participant.
Now I love Lawn Fawn stamp products, and I always have. I just seem to love the whimsical side of Lawn Fawn more than anything else. I pulled out my stash of Lawn Fawn stamp sets and realized, I didn’t have one serious stamp set anywhere. Then it dawned on me…we as adults are really good about sending thank you notes to each other. What we are not, is good at sending thank you notes to the children in our lives. I know I tell my kids thank you all the time, but I don’t take the time to make them little notes that show them how thankful I really am. (Don’t get me wrong, I give my kids little notes all the time, just not thank you notes.)
Realizing this, I set off using my whimsical stamp sets intent to make a thank you note for my son. I pulled out an old stamp set, Critters from the Past, which I was pleased to see was still on the market. Too many stamp sets have too short a shelf life. But I am happy to say this one is still available.
Anyway, I pulled out my dinosaurs and started building a scene with them, masking where I needed too. I wanted to stick to the neutral palette in our inspirations photo, so I went with different combinations of earth tone copics. I textured out some grass, built a volcano in the background and shaded in the sky as well, all using copics. Finally, I pulled a random thank you stamp and a sentiment from the stamp pack and stamped them in black ink.
It was a fairly simple card construction, despite all that color. I do think it came out perfect for one of the young people in my life, especially a little boy (and lets be honest, they are so hard to craft for).
If you get a chance, take a few minutes and see the really beautiful (and serious) thank you inspired cards the Cupcake Inspirations Design Sweeties have come up with. You won’t regret it.
