Cupcake Inspirations #384

Acic384s the sun rises on another Sunday, the start of a new challenge starts on over at Cupcake Inspirations.  This week we are hosting a color challenge, looking for the shades of midnight, gold and turquoise.  Isn’t that such a pretty color scheme.

This week we are hosted by Serendipity Stamps, who is graciously offering a $20 gift certificate to one random participant.  Yes, you read that correctly, just a random sponsor-badge-1participant.  So link up your designs for your chance to win the opportunity to go shopping.

This week I got to play with the Cupcake and Candle Die Set from Serendipity Stamps, and boy was that die fun to play with.  I am not normally strong at paper piecing, but that die really gives you a lot of choices and opportunities.

I pulled out a sheet of navy blue textured card stock and turquoise card stock along with some metallic gold card stock and ran each of them through my big shot using the die.  Then I die cut a piece of white card stock with a square die and paper pieced the cupcake and candle together using bits and pieces of all three papers.  Then I snagged some blue and turquoise printed paper and trimmed it up to 4 by 5.25 inches.

The card however just didn’t feel right.  I mean there was no coloring, and you know how I feel about coloring, so I pulled a little guy from Lawn Fawn stamp pack and colored him in with different shades so he fit the color scheme.  I added him to the card so it looked like he was really excited about the cupcake, and pulled a bit of scrape paper out and stamped out the sentiment make the card a fun masculine birthday card.  I did add some stamped hearts and colored them in using my white gel pen to add just a bit more visual interest to the whole thing, lowing the masculine feeling to the card, but I don’t care.  I like the card.

Take a few moments and run over and check out the cool work the other designers are doing.  You won’t regret it.  (They really are that talented.)

That’s it for now, but I can’t wait to see what you whip up using this week’s colors.  Have fun baking up your own design.
