It is Sunday and thus a new sweet challenge over at Cupcake Inspirations.  This week we are featuring a theme challenge, encouraging you all to ‘shine bright’.  I don’t know about you, but this cupcake sort of makes me want to get my ‘Holly Golightly’ on.  This bit of decadence just makes me think of that old classic movie and the actress who iconized the roll.

I decided to go with a pretty little mermaid, since what mermaid doesn’t shine brightly.  I stamped out the mermaid from Neat and Tangled’s Mermazing stamp pack.  I colored her in with my copic markers and then took the time to fussy cut her out.

I really wanted this girl to sparkle and shine so I took my sparkly Gelly Roll Pen and outlined her scales, hair and colored in her top.  Then I added copious amount of wink of stella.  You can sort of see how the mermaid sparkles in the picture, but in real life, she truly shines.

But to really get to the heart of the theme, (and see if I could really get things to shine bright), I pulled some Ranger Foil Tape Sheets, and adhered it to the back of some card stock.  Then taking just a bit of chance (since I had absolutely no idea if it would work), I pulled Neat and Tangle’s Falling Hearts stamps.  I used some versa mark and some Ranger Holographic embossing powder.  I am excited to say it worked very well, you just can’t touch the foil tape for a few minutes (yes, it is hot).

I stamped out some waves and the banner (coloring it in with copics) and trimmed them out.  I adhered the waves flush with the card, but the banner and the mermaid with some dimensional tape.  Finally using just a bit of white embossing powder I embossed on the sentiment.  I love how much the card reflects light.  And the hearts behind the mermaid looks like bubbles of sugar rushing to the surface.
