Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #369

CIC369.png mygoash digiIt is Sunday, which means it is time for a new challenge over at Cupcake Inspirations.  This week we are featuring a theme challenge asking for you to whip up a design featuring (drum roll please), the great outdoors.  What does this mean…well you tell us.  What does the great outdoors mean to you?  No you don’t have to use the cupcake to inspire you…you just need to design a project that says ‘outdoors’.  However, on a side note…doesn’t that cupcake look absolutely amazing and utterly tempting to devour.unspecified-2

Anyway I digress….This week our challenge is sponsored by the fun digital design company My Grafico Digital Arts and Crafts.  They are offering this week to one random crafting participant a free digital design set of their choice.

IMG_3679The design team and I got an opportunity to play with our own digi set and really there were so many possibilities.  I pulled out the moose, chipmunk and owl from my digi set and printed them out onto some card stock.  Then I colored them in with my copic markers.  I was really trying for some texture (aka short hair fur) on my moose, and after (lets be honest) way too much time, I think I nailed it.

For the rest of the card I colored in the other animals as well, fussy cut them out and wanted to put them around a campfire (you know so they could roast marsh mellows later when no one was looking).  IMG_3683The problem was I don’t have a campfire stamp to play with.  So I snagged a bit of old brown printed paper and drew out a some logs.  I fussy cut the logs out, and then using some scrap orange paper, I added a bit of fire to the logs.  I also, using the same brown paper made a little tree stump for our friend the owl to stand on.  Now, I had to build a back ground.  Using some Distress Ink in black soot and vintage photo, I made a night scene and drew in some grass with my copics.  I adhered the digi stamps and my hand drawn logs, fire and stump and finally, using a Stampendous stamp set, stamped out the sentiment.  I backed the whole scene with some kraft paper and then added it to a white card stock A2 card.

I hope you feel inspired by my design this week.  I was working a little out of my comfort zone, but think I got pretty close to what I was aiming for.  Now take a few minutes and go check out the other Cupcake Design Team Sweeties.  There work this week is really exceptional.
