For my project today, I wanted to create something a little more subdued.  I always need on hand sympathy cards, because when you need them, it is always so hard to make them.

IMG_0272Step One:  I started by stamping a single tree and bird house onto a piece of watercolor paper using water soluble ink.

IMG_0273Step Two:  I blended out the watercolor ink out so the lightest part of the card was the stamped images.

IMG_0274Step Three:  I added a ground layer using a grey toned green art marker.

IMG_0275Step Four:  I then adhere Broken Glass sequins to the tree limbs, letting the sequins be the foliage.  I added a few sequins to the ground like fallen leaves.

IMG_0276Step Five:  Finally, I stamp the sentiment onto the card using the same grey ink I used to stamp the tree.

IMG_0335I hope you find this card as pretty as I do.  No on likes making sympathy cards, but if you must use one, it might as well be stunning.  I just love how the Broken Glass blend creates this look of elegance.

  1. What an AMAZING LOOK!!! I never would have thought to add them to a cool tree. I am going to find out who makes that tree. I LOVE IT.

  2. So clever to use the sequins as the foliage, I know I have countless sequins and you’ve started my brain churning. As an added bonus, I have that stamp set, the images and sentiments are fab for sympathy cards. Thanks for sharing your creativity.

  3. Truly beautiful card and one that will be much appreciated when the time comes to use it. I love the shaker blend adorning the tree. Just gorgeous.
I too find it easier to make sympathy cards ahead of time. Came in handy for me this week as there was a memorial service today that I attended…and I only found out about it yesterday! Glad I had a card ready.
