The Colour Challenge for August is up over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and this month it is a bit of a doozy. We are looking for Christmas Cards using the colors Copper or Bronze plus Dark Blue and Turquoise. That’s right…three colors you don’t normally associate with Christmas.
For my project today I thought I would play around with some die cuts to see if I could make this color challenge work. I pulled out the Christmas Door die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs.
I started by die cutting out all the pieces using some 90lb Soft Finish Cardstock. Then I pulled out my Blueprint Sketch and Faded Jeans Distress Oxides and colored up some pieces.
I colored up the door and door pieces with Peacock Feathers Distress Oxides.
Using some liquid adhesive, I assembled the door frame adding the snow in addition.
To get the bronze color from the challenge into my project, I pulled out my Antique Bronze Distress Paint and dabbed it onto the other die cut pieces using a make-up sponge.
There were a few other accent pieces I needed for my final design, and I colored them up using the Peacock Feathers and Blueprint Sketch.
I then assembled the rest of the door frame adding all the accents. I also pulled out my copic markers and added different highlights and shadows to the the project.
For my card base I took some more of the Antique Bronze and sponged it around the card frame.
I added a sentiment from the Classic Christmas sentiment from ECD and call the card finished. I wished I had made the background a little darker, so the door frame would have popped more…but there is nothing I can do now about.
I really can not wait to see how you play with this unique color challenge for your project. Until then, Happy Crafting.
C’est vraiment très joli EK, je n’y aurais pas pensé mais le résultat est top, biz
