I have been seeing too many crafting memes lately that say things like…
Why spend 7 dollars on something you can craft for 108!
or
I created this 10 minutes card in an hour and a half!
and I feel frustrated. I feel frustrated because I believe memes like this make at home crafters feel bad when they do make a cheep craft or when they make something really quickly. Just because something is inexpensive or it didn’t take too long, doesn’t mean that it isn’t special.
So today I have create 8 cards using a three dollar crafting kit, some tape, a little glue, and a pack of 3 dollar sequins that I didn’t use that much of, so really I only spent pennies on the dollar when it came to the sequins.
I pulled out the Hunkydorry Sparkle & Shine Mirri Magic Raise a Glass card kit from White Rose Crafts in addition to some Kaisercraft 6mm Double Sided Tape and some Doodles Paper Playground Conversation Hearts Sparkle Blend sequins.
I share the full process of how I created these 8 cards, a process that only took me about 40 minutes (and I may have been distracted by food and dogs during this process). Because I like you, I have sped up process to a simple 10 minute video. To watch the video in HD, click here.

Memes like that focus on the cost (both money and time) of crafting while ignoring all of emotional benefits of creating.
I come from a large crafting family (we all have our stashes) and the unanimous consensus is that it’s money and time better spent than buying alcohol or cigarettes!
