Christmas Card Throwdown March Technique Challenge

Technique

It is that time of week again when we get to announce the new challenge over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.  This week we are hosting a technique challenge and looking for projects that feature embossing folders for the background.

IMG_5155I really tried some different techniques today along with my embossed background.  I started with some Distress Resist spray that had set on some watercolor paper.  Then I pulled out my distress Oxide Sprays in both Iced Spruce and Fossilized Amber and strayed it so it blend over each other.  Then using a triangular stencil, I added some water and dabbed away the excess water pulling away some of the ink.

IMG_5156I then pulled out my embossing folder and dry embossed vertical stripes across the card.  I love how subtle the stripes came out over the ink.

IMG_5157I trimmed up the card to turn it into a shaker card and added some Sparkle Bend sequins into the opening.  I also stamped a fun sentiment and some holiday lights onto the card.

I can’t wait to see how you dry emboss your card this week.  Until then, happy crafting.
