There are a couple of people in this world that I find it impossible for whom to shop. Of course those people are also the people I love most on this earth. My husband, my mother and father or course are at the top of the list. My husband and my father are difficult basically because there isn’t anything they actually need. My mother on the other hand doesn’t really need anything and doesn’t want you spending money on her. At this point in my life I send flowers to her for her birthday and on my parent’s anniversary because she loves fresh flowers and doesn’t lay into me for spending money on her. But shopping for my mom on Valentine’s day is impossible. I am not allowed to spend a dime….so this year I made her a valentine and a book mark. My mother is an avid reader so the book mark seemed fitting.
For the bookmark I pulled out a sheet of Pink Peach Soft Finished Cardstock and a sheet of Misty Mauve Soft Finished Cards stock.
I die cut both sheet with the new ModaScrap Love, Life Tag dies. For the project, I used one long pink peach tag, and one long mauve tag. Also I used a short mauve tag.
I die cut the tree and heart circle from one of the long tag die cuts. I die cut the hearts from the short mauve tag.
I then added a sentiment to the short tag from the Love Sentiments stamp set. The love was stamped in a red archival ink and the x’s and o’s in black. I added some black and white twine to pull the three tags together.
To make the card I started by creating a 6″x6″ card frame with some Cafe au Lait Soft Finished cardstock.
I die cut some printed paper from the Sweet Vintage Rose paper pack using the frame die from the Garden Scene die set. Adhere the paper to the card frame with some 10mm Clear Double Sided Tape
I die cut the large laced heart from the new Love Struck die set in Misty Mauve Soft Finished Cardstock.
I die cut the arrows and the hearts from the Love Struck die set using some 85lb White Soft Finished Cardstock layered with Clear Double Sided Adhesive sheets.
I added some Copper Rose Silk Microfine Glitter to the pieces.
I die cut the inner heart from the Love Struck die set out of 100lb White soft finished cardstock.
Using some black Memento ink, I stamped out the images from the Color of Puppies Girl stamp set.
I distressed the edges of the heart with some Distress Ink in Brushed Corduroy.
I colored in the images quickly with my copic markers.
Add the sentiment from the Love Sentiments to the card frame using black archival ink and your stamping platform to keep it strait.
Add the heart to the card using some glossy accents or other liquid adhesive.
Add the arrows to the sides of the heart. I trimmed the from part of the arrow by a 1/2 inch and saved the piece.
Add the stamped heart to the card using some 3mm Clear Double Sided Adhesive.
I added the trimmed piece of the arrow to the center of the card so it looked like the card had been pieced in the middle.
I added the heart using some more liquid adhesive.
And there is the finished card.
And the finished bookmark.
I hope my mother doesn’t get too upset for me taking the time to let her know how much I lover her!
beyond gorgeous!!! I think she will be over the moon !…. this is adorable!!!!!!!
