I’m back today with the 3rd card from my 2017 Halloween Series. Today, I thought I would step back from the highly designed and colored backgrounds, and just play a little with what is behind the focal image.
I am using an old and retired stamp set today from Craftin Desert Divas, but these devils bears are just too cute not to play with. And frankly, I don’t believe just because a company has retired a stamp set doesn’t mean that I should stop playing with it. If you see something I use that is no longer available for purchase, check out the company that made the stamp. Usually, they have something similar. In this case, CDD has a really cute digi that looks a lot like this old stamp set called Little Lovelies Devil Bear.
I built the background first, pulling out three different Oxides and a Dina Wakley stencil (which actually may be retired as well). I sponged on the ink onto the card stock, using Fired Brick, Fossilized Amber, and Spiced Marmalade. I also added a little Black Soot to the corners and the ground.
I then pulled out my copics to color in the bears. I used E23, E25, and E27 for the flying bear, and E74, E77, and E79 for the fur on the standing bear.
I trimmed the card up (using a really old corner rounding punch) and matted the image with black card stock.
Hope you enjoyed today’s card, and I will see you back here next week with another!
Great card. I love the colours, so autumnal and Halloween-y
