This month the Mood Board is so bright and cheerful. It just makes you want to celebrate something. After such a long and cold (for many) winter, it is such a pleasant surprise to see this bold colors.
As for me, when I started this card, I really meant to do something entirely different. For me, the design I ended up making in the end really proves, that sometimes, less is a whole lot of more.
Like I said, I started out trying to make a really funky banner. Something big and bold like the the mood board itself. I started off die cutting some textured card stock with the rolling hill die from CDD’s Outdoor Landscape Die. I had, like I originally said planned to put a gal standing in front of what was going to be a giant banner. But as I was assembling this, my youngest kid peaked over my should and said “That landscape is beautiful!!!” I looked at her stunned, having no idea what she was talking about. I asked her what she meant, and said looked at me like I was crazy. Obviously to her, I had made a landscape. She gently touched her finger to the bottom of the card and said, “red clay, followed by dirt, followed by a field of wheat, rolling grassy hills, all under a bright blue sky.”
As soon as she showed me, it was all I could see. And it felt like a real shame to destroy that rolling hill side. So I simply pulled out a flower from the Prickly Stamp Set and heat embossed it on with white. Then using a simply sentiment from the Say It Big stamp set, I heat embossed the sentiment in white as well.
Now, I know what you are thinking??? Where is the coloring??? Where is the complicated scene??? Where is the more??? Well, today, less simply is the more. Because my kiddo was right, it really is just a beautiful landscape.
I can’t wait to see what you do with this month’s Mood Board. Don’t forget to add #CDDMONTHLY to all of your social media so we can find your designs where ever you post.
Till next time, enjoy the simple things.
