Craftin Desert Diva’s February Release

cdd_logo_color_425px_1438310903_04267_1439400895__24025How are you enjoying the new products being released by Craftin Desert Divas?  Aren’t they fun?  And as of now, they are available for purchase!!!  I would recommend you hurry, because last month those products sold out pretty quickly.

I had the pleasure of doing a little guest design this week for the release.  I got the new stamp set Whimsical Wishes early and got to play with it.  I don’t know if you know this, but I am a huge fantasy fan.  Dragons and dwarves, fairies and fairy tales have always been my favorite stories to read, so needless to say, this stamp set it right up my ally.

I’m here today to show two more designs I whipped up using this new stamp set.  The first one is a fun scene I set up using the four main characters in a fun little scene.  I stamped out the images, using masking where needed to keep my lines from crossing.  I colored in the little scene with my copic markers, trying to keep the whole scene fairly simple.  I also used my white gelly roll pen all over the scene, trying to get the images to really pop.  I used that white gel pen on the fairy’s hair, the pixie’s hat and cloths, the dragons toes and scales, and the jaquin’s (I don’t know his official title, but we watch quite a bit of Elena of Avalor on disney channel, so my kids have christened him a flying jaguar, or jaquin) wings.  I also added several sequins from the new sequin pack Glimmering Gemstones Sequin Mix.

I die cut out the scene using CDD’s largest Fancy Frames Die.  I realized that the card needed a little something more since I kept the stamped scene so simple.  So I pulled out some dotted printed paper and my CDD Scribbled Circle Dies.  I laid them down and adhered them so they would be hanging off the edges of an A2 card.  I then trimmed them so nothing was hanging off the card.  I laid the die cut scene over it using some X-Press It 1/2 inch Foam Tape.

I over designed another card, and frankly am still on the fence about it, but my friend loved it and said I just had to share it.

I featured just the Jaquin from the Whimsical Wishes stamp pack and stamped him out onto a piece of card stock.  I had a crazy idea, and knew I wasn’t going to put any color on him.  Instead I stamped out all the different florals from the stamp pack and colored them in using my copics.  Then still using my copics I went crazy trying to create a watercolor like background using Y00, BV000, B000, RV00, and G00 plus lots and lots of colorless blender.  I wanted it to look like the jaquin had created magical color all around him.

I used all of the rectangle dies to the Fancy Frame Dies and backed each die cut piece with a bit of of white card stock.  I then relaid them all back together to make everything look built up.  I finally added a bunch of the new Glimmering Gemstone Sequin Mix all over the card to continue that magical feel.  I don’t really know if this worked…tell me what you think.
