Craftin Desert Diva’s February Mood Board #2

cdd_logo_color_425px_1438310903_04267_1439400895__24025With all the amazing new stamp and dies releases mood-boordhappening over at Craftin Desert Divas, you may have forgotten about the fun Mood Board Challenge happening.  There is some fun prizes for those who enter (using CDD products), so don’t forget about the challenge happening here on Facebook.

I am loving this Mood Board, because there are so many different choices you can make.  It may be highlighted in reds (silly Valentine colors) but you can do so many different style cards.  Loving winter, great, show us a snow scene.  Love getting mail, then design a card with a sweet little mail box.  A fan of cookies, than color them up.  And if you are like me, and a fan of sweet little squirrels, than find yourself a sweet little squirrel and color him up.  I am using one of recently released Digital stamps, Apple of My Eye, who has the cutest little squirrel at the center of it.

15672709_1239649109416086_152977883357047613_nI pulled the digi up on my computer and made him so that he would take up the majority of an A2 card and printed him out, making sure that the sentiment was printed out separate from the image.

I snagged my copics and started coloring in the squirrel.  I used E35, E37, and E39.  I used E33, E35, and E37 for the lighter sections of the squirrel.  The apple is colored in in R24, R29, and R89.  The log is colored in using E70, E74, and E79.  The bits of green leaves are colored using YG11, YG13 and YG17.  The snow is colored in using N0, B60, and B63.  Finally, that lovely pinkish back ground is colored in using Colorless Blender, R20, R22, and R24.

I decided to make the scene a snowy one, so using my colorless blender, I added dots creating a bit of snow in the background.  I then snagged my favorite White Gelly Roll Pen and added more snowflakes to the scene.  I also added some snow to the log and the ground to make it look like some snow had built up over time.

Finally, I cut out the sentiment into two strips.  Using my 1/16 inch 3d self Adhesive Foam Squares I popped the sentiment up, making certain to lay it down in white zones of the card.

I love that this card, if you wanted it to, could be a Valentine’s Day card.  But it could be an anytime card, or a perfect card for Teacher Appreciation week.  (apples always make me think teacher).
