Craftin Desert Divas February Mood Board Challenge #1

mood-boordWelcome to February everyone.  Where did January go.  Alas, we are in a new month, and thus there is a new mood board challenge from Craftin Desert Divas over at the CDD Facebook Gallery.

This month’s mood board is really fun.  I know we all think valentine’s day when we think February, but this mood board has so much more.  I love that it still has the feeling of winter, 15672709_1239649109416086_152977883357047613_nand yet the hope from spring.

I decided to play with the digital stamp Bee Bear with Honey Pot.  Deal with it, I am making a Valentine’s day card.  This one will be for my preteen son who pretends he is too old for these kinds of things, but secretly carries the card around with him for days.

I printed out the image onto some card stock, and for a bit of nostalgia, colored in the image using my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.  These were my first alcohol markers and they don’t see as much use as the use to now that I’ve expanded to copics, but they really are great markers, especially for a beginner.  I know my coloring skill have gotten better, because I don’t remember them looking this good before.

I trimmed out card stock down a bit so it would be much smaller than an A2 card.  I grabbed a scrape of black textured card stock and adhered it with my favorite Scor Tape.  I added the digi stamp with some dimensional tape.  Finally, I added some black and gold sequins from the Lucky Sequins sequin pack.

I thought the card looked pretty good, but I realized the honey pot needed a little something more.  I pulled out my white gelly pen and gave the honey a bit of highlight.  For fun, I finally added some speckles on the little bear’s nose.
