Cupcake Inspirations #380

cic380It’s Sunday which means it is time for a new challenge over at Cupcake Inspiration.  This week we are hosting a color challenge, and looking for the colors blush, ruby and forest.  And is it just me, or does those cupcakes make you want to reach for a glass of wine?waffle-flower-crafts-logo-RGB

This week we are hosted by Waffle Flower.  They are generously offering a stamp to one random participant.

I decided this color palette was asking for some kind of floral design, and I had a fun new (to me) technique I so wanted to use.  The other day I got lost in the world of You Tube and ended up watching a very cool video of a crafter using both gelatos and Fabre Castel big brush pens.  I wish I could tell you who’s amazing video inspired this card, but like I said, I was lost in the world of you tube and this wasn’t someone to whom I subscribe.  Alas, I used the technique anyway.

I pulled out a floral stamp set from Ellen Hutson Design and stamped out a bunch of floral and leaf stamps onto some card stock.  Then using my gelatos, I put some onto the stamps and blended the color out with my fingers.  Then, grabbing my big brush pens, I dabbed just a drop onto the center of the images and blended that outwards as well.  It left the images with a really cool blended look.  Even more impressive, it just took a few minutes.  Frankly only a fraction of the time it would take me to use my copics.  The only draw back to this technique is that it is messy and keeping the color inside of the images is next to impossible.  I trimmed up the card to just 4 by 5.25 inches and adhered it to an A2 frame with some dimensional tape.  Sadly, as I look at the photo of my card, I realize that the blade of my paper cutter really needs to be cut.  There are little paper flecks everywhere and it is driving me insane.  How I didn’t see it till now I will never know.

Take a few minutes and run over to see all the amazing work the other Design Sweeties did this week.  There designs are really fun, and we all are so very diverse.
