It is Sunday, which of course means it is time for a new Cupcake Inspirations Challenge. This week we are sponsoring a theme challenge looking for cards for Bows.
I am not a big ribbon person, and rarely use actual bows in my work. The main reason for this is that I just can’t tie pretty bows. There are crafters who have made an absolute art of bow tieing. I just have never been one of them. So I knew in this challenge I would have to rely on other types of bows (even though I did find in the end that could tie a fairly decent bow if I used quite a bit of glossy accents).
I pulled out a Santoro Gorjuss stamp and stamped out the focal image. Then using two different sized bows from the stamp pack I created a wall paper behind the focal image.
I did pull out a bit of scrap ribbon I had laying around and pulled the colors from the ribbon to pick the colors to color. (I just couldn’t bring myself to use the hot pink in the inspiration photo.) I colored in the focal image and bows with my copics, trying to keep everything crisp and white in the back ground. Then I pulled out some Liquitex Iridescent bright Gold ink and painted the rim of the tea cup and saucer. I wish you could see how pretty the gold ink reflects light in real life. It added something really neat to the whole image.
I added the bow with some double sided tape and spent forever trying to tie a pretty bow. In the end, with quite a bit of glossy accents I came up with a decent bow and adhered that too. Then I added the whole thing to an A2 card base and left it at just that.
I encourage you to take a minute and go see what the other Design Sweeties came up with. Their interpretation of the theme is really amazing (and there are some really pretty bows).
This is such a cute card and what a sweet image!! I know exactly what you’re saying about people who can make bow tieing look like an art. I am not one of those people either but your bow came out fabulous!!
