Welcome back to Wednesday where I no longer talk about being a day late, because now we do this on Wednesday.  Ha.  Take that universe.  I’m no longer late.  🙂

Don’t worry about me, I’m just a little crazy, but seriously I’m all right.  Today has been one of those days where I’ve had a very long check list, and slowly but surely I’ve gotten those things checked off my list.  I finished my 6×6 mix media canvas I’ve been kicking around.  I finished a mock up for a demo I’m doing tomorrow for a classroom at the school.  I’ve worked on the musical

and broadway review I’m helping put together for choir.  I’ve run four miles.  I did two loads of laundry, and now, I’m here with you sharing the handful of cards I’ve worked on over the past few days.

And I’m so excited because Sunday I get to push myself into my next project and I’ll be sharing it with you next week.  Oh, and I get to go in and teach some mix media and paper piecing to some Kinders next Tuesday which I am way too excited about.  So yes, lots of things are rocking and rolling in my world.

But there cards…here my friends are the cards.

Our first card is brought to us by the letters C, Y, I, and C, or in other words, the tag line for Can You Case It.  This week they have a sketch for us to make happen.  And the heart clearly says that it wants to go into my all things love theme I’ve been spitting out. (I promise I’ll be back to other things soon).

So in my world right now, everyone seems to be talking

watercolor and water soluble products, so I’ve kind of been in a water world.  I pulled out some water color paper and a stencil and sprayed some Distress Stain Spray.  I used my hands down favorite color, Victorian Velvet, as well as Tattered Rose and Picked Raspberry.  I did it twice because the first one did not make my oval shape nicely.  I cut out the oval and adhered it to a card.  Then I grabbed the great card stock that actually looked a little like my spray ink and cut out the two branchy shapes from a Sizzix.  (the paper is actually in the back ground of the picture).  I also used the reject from the spray ink paper, and used a die to cut the love heart.  Finally I stamped out hearts and a sentiment.   The key here was that I used Rose Bud Ink from Memento and then while it was one the stamp layered it with some tuxedo black and stamped it on the paper giving it that great two toned quality that it got.

Next up we have our weekly dose of decadence with the gals at Cupcake Inspirations.  This week they are asking for us to use colors that go with the lovely little love cupcakes.  The colors are blush, cream and gold filling out the perfect combination for a little love card.

Now I think everyone knows that I love to show the ugly I do as well

as the pretty.  For another card I was doing, I was trying to pull off this tulip water color embossed thing and FAILED.  It was just ugly.  So I scraped it.  But I hate wasting watercolor paper so I

flipped it over and found the tulip embossing was there with no extra ugly color.  So I pulled out my Koi water colors and started trying to come up with a blush for the tulips that would work.  And with a little shading it worked.  They were pretty and soft, and everything I had hoped the first attempt would be.  Then I

added a little Distress Ink in Antique Linen to the sky to give the cream color to our challenge.  Finally I pulled out an old red rubber stamp that says “It’s the little things in life that mean the most” and inked it up with gold Brilliance.  I backed the card with some gold printed card stock and inked up the edges of the watercolor paper the gold brilliance.  I love this little card.  It may not be love, but to me it says love.

Next we have a nice sketch challenge from the designers over at Stampin’ Celebration.  And the best thing about this sketch was that totally said to use my embossing folders.

So I totally wanted to experiment with some foiled shinny paper

and an embossing folder.  It sort of worked, and I think the card came out great, but in places the embossing almost cut through the paper.  I’ll have to try another folder later with these papers and see what happens.  I stamped out some hearts from Distress Ink and a sentiment I sort of pieced together onto white card stock and adhered them with dimensional tape.  I added all sorts of glitter to the hearts which did not photograph well but in real life it is beautiful.  Finally I added the red and silver gems to just spice things up.  I added on little pink gem to the banner with the sentiment just because well, I wanted too.

Next, but not last we have a winter themed card from AAA Cards.

Recently I have fallen back in love with my House mouse stamps,

and this little guy might just be my favorite.  He is Tiny jumper from the Stampendous House Mouse group, and he is so stinkin’ cute. I added a generous dollop of white Heidi Swaps screen ink to the bottom of the image to be the snow, and then colored in my mouse friend and the back ground with my Prismacolor colored pencils pencils.  Then I just layered paper until I found a layer I liked.  I finally added the sentiment and the sequins to give a little snow joy to the whole thing.  I don’t know if I love the card, but I love the section with the snow and the mouse.  He came out so cute.

Finally, we have my a great little sketch from the girls (or women if it makes you feel better) from The Paper Players.  I don’t know why this sketch of all sketches spoke to me, but it did.

Now I have this crazy little pig stamp that got lost in my world, and

has been found again, so I stamped out the little guy and colored him in with my Spectrum Noir markers.  I added him to a beige piece of card stock that I die cut and inked up with Express Memento ink.  I quickly paper pieced the whole thing together, inking up the edges of everything to muddy the look of everything.  And I love this card.
