Have you played yet with the May Mood Board over at Craftin Desert Divas Facebook Gallery? If you haven’t you still have time, but only a little bit of it. This month’s Mood board closes tomorrow and there is certainly prizes to be won.
I have one more chance to play with this bold and bright board. Honestly, I started building a card, got half way done, and suddenly noticed (for the first time) the margarita on the bottom center panel. Last month, when CDD released the Fiesta Time stamp set there were a couple of really sweet little margarita glasses and great little festive
margarita saying. So I immediately stopped what I was doing and started a new design.
I obviously don’t have a card sized cocktail glass, so I drew one out (yes using a ruler) along with its lemon, and then masked it off the outside of it, so I could stamp one of the margarita glasses inside it. I decided to only use the glass without a the umbrella on it, knowing what I was going to do to color this would not be necessarily easy as it was, but more
difficult with the umbrella image.
I then reversed the masking to stamp out two different sizes of peppers from the same stamp set. Before I put any of the stamps
down around the cup, I did stamp out the sentiment and mask that off as well. Then I added the peppers. I pulled all the masking off and using a black fine liner pen, went back over my pencil marks. I know this looks like absolute chaos right now, but once the
color was added, the card really did start to sparkle.
I pulled out some colored pencils and started color in the image, and yet, it did take a pretty long time. Actually, this card took me almost twice as long as a normal heavy card takes me, but I am sure that was because I was having to maneuver around all those images.
In the end, I think I ended up with something that look pretty cool. A had a boo-boo somewhere along the way that could not be fixed, and I just couldn’t bring myself to start over again, so I used some acrylic white paint, spectrum sparkle pen and a little light blue colored pencil to conceal the mistake. And I think it almost worked.

Anyway, pull out your ruler and whip up a design inspired by this month’s Mood board. Don’t forget to add #CDDMONTHLY on all your social media platforms so the Design Team can see your amazing work!
