And if you have missed the news, Craftin Desert Divas just had an amazing new Stamp and Die Release!
Today I am sharing two cards, both featuring stamp sets and dies from the new release.
The first card features the new Ocean Friends stamp set.
To create this card, I stamped out the pair of whales and the sentiment onto some white card stock and colored it in with my copic markers. I could have stopped here, but decided to really see if I could make that water move!
I pulled out the new Ocean Borders die set and created a mask using both of the wave dies on some really thick card stock (so the mask would hold up).
I taped the card down and then taped the mask down. Pulling out my distress inks, I started blending some broken china ink onto the card. I continued doing these with both of the dies over and over again, till there was some real depth in the water.
I grabbed the tumbled glass distress ink and added it to the sky, blending down into the whales. I added some chipped sapphire around the edges of the water, creating just a bit more depth.
I pulled out an embossing folder and dry embossed just the sky. I made a pretty big mistake and had the folder upside down, causing the clouds to be embossed the wrong way. However, this just happened to be a happy accident. It turned out looking really cool. Finally, I die cut the whole image with CDD’s Crazy Stitched Frame Dies and added the image to an A2 card frame!
My second card today features the new Jawsome stamp set!
I decided for this card, I wanted to do a little no line coloring, so I stamped out the shark and octopus in some desert sand Memento ink and pulled out my prismacolor colored pencils.
I decided to draw in the rest of the scene by hand, so I pulled out a couple of pale pencils and sketched in the horizon line, the surf and some rocks for the octopus to sit on.
Then the coloring really began. I paid very carful attention to the shadows of the rocks, and tried to put in foot steps in the sand from where the Shark had been running. The ocean was created using five blue tones and then blended out with oderless mineral spirits.
For the sky, I wanted to created some really fluffy clouds, so I pulled out CDD’s Rainbow Dies set and snagged the cloud die. I traced the cloud die, creating the outlines of my fluffy clouds.
Then using a pale blue, a sky blue, and a white colored pencils, I created the clouds.
I left the card as an one layer card, and adhered it to an A2 frame.
There is still one more blog to visit along this hop. From here you need to hop on over to Card Maker Magazine’s page.
I hope you enjoyed my cards today. Don’t forget to comment for your chance to win the $75 store credit!
