A bit before Bed

I swear I am heading up to bed in just a moment, but I wanted to take a second and share a little of the fun I had today.  I got a bit of time and was able to drop out a couple of cards.  (Of course, I then got distracted by the choreography work I am doing and lost all tract of time.)

My bed is now call me, but before I reach that spot, I want to show some of the fruits of my labor.

So without further ado…

6a01bb07e17ff4970d01b8d2380008970c-450wiUp first is a pin board challenge over at Ellen Hutson Pin Board Challenge.  I am very much loving how diverse this pin board is.  I was extremely pulled in by the hints of blue and all those beautiful snow.

However, I did not have any snowlike stamps to use for this challenge.  So I pulled out Essentials by Ellen Bold Blooms ek-gorman-eh-pin-boardjanstamp pack and pulled out one tiny flower.  I stamped the image over and over in four shades of Memento blue ink.  I did however lay a mask down on the paper so that I could I could lay a type of white bank of paper.  I pulled out a sentiment from the same stamp pack and stamped it out in Gold Brilliance ink.  Then I pulled the three tiny dots and stamped those out in gold too.  I trimmed up the card stock and backed it with a bit of black card stock.  Finally I added everything to an A2 card.  Yes, this one is simple, but I love that white space dipping inside the middle.

screen-shot-2016-11-20-at-7-44-36-pmThe girls over at Just Us Girls this week have a theme photo for their challenge.  The photo has the most amazing ladybug rest on a bit of a daisy.  The hope of spring is everywhere right now.

I pulled out a Stampendous daisy stamp pack and thought I would have to go searching for a ladybug, but alas there was not only one, ek-gorman-jug387but two little ladybugs existing within the stamp pack.  Who knew?  I had seriously never noticed it before.  So I stamped out the ladybugs and masked them and then added the daisy.  I went ahead and added a tiny little butterfly and then pulled out my Prismacolor color pencils.  I colored in the images, and added a bit of Gamsol to soften my lines.  I trimmed the paper up and added some printed paper under the whole card to add a bit more interest to the paper.  Finally I added a few wood dew drops and called it a day on this one.

pp329The design team this week over at The Paper Players have a really fun sketch happening.  I didn’t like the diamond shapes however, and went a ek-gorman-pp329little outside the box.

So, using a Recollections stamp pack I stamped out a unicorn and three rainbows.  I colored the whole image in using my copics, make the rainbow decrease in brightness with each shape.

I tried to keep things simple, using only red ink to stamp out the sentiment and the inks.  I trimmed the card up and added it to a red A2 card frame.

cyci145-300x240This week the sleuths of design over at Can You Case it have given us a really pretty color challenge.  The designs this week needed to showcase blue, purple, silver and white.ek-gorman-cyci145

I pulled out a stamp from La La Land and stamped out the beautiful little girl.  I colored her in using my Spectrum Noir markers (yes, I have gone back to my first alcohol marker just for fun).  I pulled out my Spectrum Noir sparkled markers and added some silver to the gals hair.  I top-6-2017-001-300x300trimmed the paper up and added some silver glitter paper behind the whole thing to really set off the silver I tried to color out in the kimono.  This is probably not how most people would use these colors, but for me, this is a perfect combination of the colors.

ek-gorman-lim313This week over at Less Is More we have been given a recipe challenge.  The recipe this week asks us to use at least one balloon.

I pulled out an Essentials by Ellen stamp set and stamped out the little birdie holding a couple of balloons onto some watercolor paper.  I love how this stamp set has strings that create a sentiment.  I pulled out my inktense pencils and colored in the image, trying to keep the coloring simple.  I really like this little guys shadow.  I trimmed off some of the card stock and added some metallic shinny paper.  Yes, he is simple, but I think this is a great b-day card for a man.

Finally we have a theme challenge from the crew over at Art Impressions.  This time they ek-gorman-ai200are looking for a creation that showcases valentines, easter or spring.

I wen with a Valentine’s theme using a little Art Impression cupid.  I colored the little guy in using my copic markers, trying to keep everything really simple and clean.

I trimmed the paper up and backed it with some black card stock.  Then I added that to a red A2 card.  Finally I pulled a couple of different sized red crystals and glued them down.  I like how this is sort of Valentine’s without being ridiculously girly.

Okay, that’s it…I’m off to sleep.  Till next time have fun creating.

  1. Wow! Overwhelmed as always by your productivity and the sheer variety of your lovely cards! They’re all fab (I particularly love the rainbow shapes interpretation of the sketch). Your balloons card for our challenge is great! Those little sentiment strings are brilliant and it’s so sweet having the bird holding them. Thanks so much for playing along with us at Less is More 🙂
