Oh, I am so excited to finally get to show off my first design for Christmas Card Throwdown.  I have been playing with the card challenge group for sometime, and starting now, I get to do design work with them.  So very cool!!!

There have been some major changes to CCT, but the original theme still exists…the crafting of Christmas (or winter) cards year long to get you ready for the stash you need in December.

Our first challenge of the year is a sketch challenge.  I won’t lie…I found this sketch a little difficult to wrap my brain around at first.  Now you can switch the square into a rectangle, and you can rotate the sketch however you need to, but I just couldn’t see it.  Now, I could see a tree and a star if I flipped the sketch, but I just wasn’t interested.  Maybe I just had too Christmas cards or tags recently made with trees last month.  Finally, I did see what I wanted to do.

If I turned the sketch into a rectangle, well frankly, it was an envelope.  And I was off to the races with the design.  I got a little giggle thinking of exactly what I was going to do, especially since this will be my first Christmas card for 2017.

I pulled out some printed card stock and trimmed onto fit an A2 card.  Then I cut the other piece of card stock to be the triangle in the sketch.  Both pieces of card stock I distressed with a bit of vintage photo Distress Ink.  I stamped out the sentiment in some red Archival Ink on a bit of white card stock and distressed that as well.  I assembled everything, putting a bit of dimensional tape under the sentiment.  I, at the last moment, stamped on the “No Peaking” sentiment just for fun.  I added the assembled card stock to some top folded red card stock cut to an A2 size.

Maybe the design is really simple, but there is just something so fun about a Christmas card made in January that says “Don’t open till Christmas”.
