That’s it, I give in…

IMG_2688So since I started posting card challenges regularly, I’ve always wanted my card challenge posts to go out on Sunday, Tuesday and Friday…and let me tell you that Tuesday post has never happened.  It always comes out on Wednesday, so I am waving the white flag and giving in.  This is officially now a Wednesday post.  Which means on Tuesdays arty stuff will be coming your way.

I am currently covered in ink and paint cause I have a canvas up on my easel, and frankly should have written this hours ago, but alas, I got lost in the paint.  So here is a quick share of what is up on my easel to view if you care.  So much more has to happen here before it is done, but this is the beginning of what will happen in the back ground to what will be a bigger picture.

Fm239Anyway…to the cards.  First up today, a Wednesday, we have a color/theme challenge from Friday Mashup.  The designers over there this week are asking us to mash up both 3 of the colors to the left, and a snow/snowflake challenge.  I love the shades of blue, but I wanted to make a card that in no way shape or form looks like a holiday card.  I am not certain that happened, but I like the card anyway.

I pulled out a snowflake die from My Favorite Things Winter Rose and die cut lots of navy blue snowflakes in two different sizes in a fun pattern(you’ll see why in a moment).  I also pulled out My Favorite Things Joy Photo Card Frame and die cut a frame out white card stock.  I then took another piece of card stock and used the snowflake die cut navy sheet and blended in Distress chipped sapphire ink into the homemade snowflake stencil.  I used then stormy sky Distress Ink on the frame.  I decided to make this a shaker card adding the die cut snowflakes, two shades of sequins, and white glitter.  Simple, but sweet I think.

pp278Up next is a challenge from The Paper Players who asked for a valentine’s day card that was clean and simple.  If you read any of my recents

posts you know I am all about love cards at the moment, so I go excited to use a new die I got from Impression Obsession with an amazing heart lattice piece.

I die cut the lattice from red card stock and adhered it down to a piece of pink card stock.  I pulled a sentiment from Avery Elle Love Notes and stamped out a simple ‘happy valentine’s day’ and added a few dark red dot.  It was a super simple card, but I feel the die cut was so fancy there was no need to do too much else.

SCIpix-018Next up we have an inspiration challenge from Stampin’ Celebration! where we have silver and white pretties to inspire us.  Again I am working with love cards, or at least great friendship cards so that was the direction I headed.

I have a new embossing folder from Darice called Peacock, and embossed a sheet of white cards stock.  I then ran Brilliance platinum planet over the raised portions of the peacock.  I took my Brilliance starlite silver and stamped the sentiment from Stampendous Life Words  on the paper.  If you can’t read it is says ‘Everyday may not be good…but there is something good in everyday.”  I added a scrape sliver of silver glitter paper and a couple silver dots and left it at that.  Again it was a pretty simple card but the embossed paper did all the work for me.

CYCI103-a-300x272Finally we have a challenge from Can you case it where we got to celebrate the groups 3rd birthday.  So happy birthday everyone over at Can you Case It.  What a fun milestone.  Today they were asking for us to make a card for ‘black tie’ event.

I was all over this.  I am such a fan of black and white because I think it can be so striking.  Also, I am only just really starting to understand color for myself and my art, so to not have to worry about it was wonderful.  Again sticking to my love theme cards, I thought I would make a black and white fun card for a girl friend.  I pulled out a sheet of black glitter paper and die cute out a window with My Favorite Things Oval Dec Doily Duo.  This is actually a fancy die, but I just used the negative paper for this.  Whoops.  I stamped out a fun sentiment from Laugh Out Loud Friends Stick Together in jet black Archival Ink.  The stamp totally says “Friends are like a Good Bra, they give support where you need it most”.  It makes me laugh.  I grabbed a scrape of white stock and stamped out Happy Valentine’s day stamp from Avery Elle Love Notes plus the hearts from the same stamp pack.  I put some glossy accents onto the hearts and added the black glittery gem and left things at that.

That’s it for today.  Hope you enjoyed todays new Wednesday Post.  See you soon.
